The Graceful - "Grace Kelly"

Another graceful style icon that I look up to is the beautiful and yes, graceful - Grace Kelly or Grace Patricia Kelly. Grace Kelly was an American actress who, in April 1956, married Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, to become Princess consort of Monaco, styled as Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco, and commonly referred to as Princess Grace.
Grace Kelly’s ascent from actress to the Princess of Monaco sounds more like a movie than real life. The Philadelphia native starred in films like “Mogambo” and “The Country Girl," for which she won an Oscar, before catching the eye of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco.
In the 1960s, as youth culture perpetrated a new, racier brand of femininity, Kelly remained a lady, integrating casual pieces into her wardrobe in a way that appealed across generations. She was true to the classic style by using beautiful fabrics, and tried to keep things simple. That was her natural inclination.
Kelly was also a member of the International Best Dressed List since 1960. During her pregnancy in 1956 Princess Grace was frequently photographed clutching a distinctive leather hand-bag manufactured by Hermes. The photographs popularized the purse and became so closely associated with the fashion icon that the purse would thereafter be known as the Kelly Bag. In 2005 Gucci re-launched its “Flora” line inspired by the scarf designed by the Italian house in 1966 for Grace Kelly; Francisco Costa’s Autumn/Winter 2007-08 collection for Calvin Klein included designs inspired by Helen Rose’s costumes for High Society; Vera Wang created in 2009 wedding gowns based on Kelly In April 2010, London's Victoria & Albert Museum featured a collection of Grace Kelly's clothes and accouterments, from her Philadelphia society days to her Hollywood stardom, to her Monegasque princesshood.
Well, I guess here we don't really need to say anything more about her style and popularity. Grace was in her name and elegance in her ways.
Thank you all for taking out time and reading. Have a graceful day. :)

Audrey Hepburn - an epitome of grace and elegance

Yes my darlings, How CAN one ever fail to mention this lady's name when it comes to Classic beauties, their style, their grace and their elegance. AUDREY HEPBURN was a British Actress and humanitarian. Hepburn was ranked as the third greatest female screen legend in the history of American cinema and a place in the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame.

Hepburn earned her place in the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1961 but her reverence as a fashion icon has continued long since her death, proved by accruing the titles "most beautiful woman of all time" and "most beautiful woman of the 20th century" in polls by Evian and QVC respectively.

Audrey Hepburn came of age when film stars wore sultry dresses, were heavily made up, and had a cigarette in every photo. By contrast, Audrey usually sported clothing that was practical for the average woman's lifestyle. Plus, every woman could afford her style, since Audrey had simple taste in clothing, hairstyles, makeup, and jewelry.

While working on the movie "Sabrina" having seen the work of Hubert de Givenchy, she decided that he should dress her in the film. The designer fell under her charm and the result of this new union between Hepburn and Givenchy was a new Audrey. Givenchy admits that Hepburn knew how to present herself. She knew her body and its faults, and knew how to emphasize its qualities. Givenchy also said that he merely adapted himself to her desires. She already had people talking with her appearance in Roman Holiday and Edith Head's costumes; her encounter with Givenchy established her as a fashion-one-to-follow. He dressed her in all her films, created her wedding dress for her second marriage and made her into the first marketing fashion icon for his perfume, "L'interdit."

The chemistry between Givenchy and Hepburn gave birth to a new image of elegance that perseveres to this day. Whether in a belted suit, leotard, French sailor shirt or corolla robe, Hepburn incarnated the quintessence of grace. She created her own style and did not follow trends. Her motto was simplicity and elegance. She appeared several times on the cover of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Never had an actress provoked as much admiration in the fashion world. Even well after her hour of glory, her image continued and still continues to influence designers who find her timeless.

She is credited with the emergence of a new style, incorporating Wayfarer sunglasses, pearls, the little black dress and the Givenchy look.
